Editorial Policy
This document regulates the main aspects of the work of the Editorial of the Meteoprog.com website, journalists, and authors of materials posted on the Site (hereinafter referred to as the "Editorial").
All terms specified in the Policy are used in the meaning defined in the User Agreement.
Editorial Principles

- The Editorial responsibility for the accuracy and quality of materials.
Editorial Tasks
The main tasks include:
- Development journalism;
- attracting more interest in weather and climate change;
- coverage of climate data and weather events.
Code of Conduct for Site Journalists
Conflict of Interest
A journalist of the Editorial, as well as any other author, is obliged to inform the editor-in-chief in advance if:
- the material contains information about the relatives and/or friends of the journalist/author;
- the journalist/author is preparing material about facts, events, personalities to which the journalist/author is related (including indirectly);
- the journalist/author has interests that contradict his/her professional duties.
Official Position
Journalists are prohibited from using their official position to obtain their own benefit or the benefit of third parties. In case of disclosure of the fact of publication of the material for the purpose of profit, the Editorial has the right to delete such material.
Journalist's social networks
The Site's journalists agree that even outside of work, their actions and words can be perceived as the words of the Site's representative. Taking this into account, journalists must comply with the norms of generally accepted morality and ethics, including journalistic ones.
The journalist is obliged to adhere to the following rules:
- do not use obscene, offensive, discriminatory language;
- in case of dissemination of internal information that interests the public, such dissemination must be agreed with the editor-in-chief;
- do not express the position of the Editorial without the consent of the Editorial itself.
Types of materials on the Site
News
Description: up-to-date information, a short message about the most important changes in weather or climate;
Requirements: the news must consist of a title, a photo, the main text, a link to the original source (if the original source is not Meteoprog.com). The news consists only of verified facts, without expressing the opinion of the Site's Editorial, unless the author is an expert in this field.
Article
Description: weather analysis from an author competent in this matter;
Requirements: the author's position must be supported by facts, figures, patterns, comments from participants and/or other experts, statistics, etc. The article cannot be anonymous, but the author can use a pseudonym.
Interview
Description: a conversation between a journalist/journalists of the Site and a person/persons who are of interest to the audience of the Site;
Requirements: The editors select persons for interviews at their own discretion. The Editorial also has the right not to approve the list of questions and/or the final text of the interview, as well as to remove information that the Editorial deems unnecessary or in violation of the Privacy Policy.
Video
Description: audiovisual presentation of information;
Requirements: the video must comply with the requirements of the Privacy Policy.
Materials on the site may be provided in different language versions of the site.
Heading Requirements
The heading must contain only reliable information, without exaggeration or understatement. Abbreviation of the title is allowed only if such abbreviation does not change the meaning.
If the Editors do not agree with the position of the original source, this should be reflected in the title.
The title should encourage Users to open the article for details.
If the newsmaker is little known, it is recommended to also add the position or place of work of the newsmaker to the title.
The number of characters in the title is no more than 150 characters.
The title should not contain rare abbreviations or terms. Exception: popular abbreviations of global organizations, official abbreviations of names.
The title should not:
contain emotional epithets. Exception: the epithet is used in a quote from a newsmaker;
humiliate third parties;
contain offensive or obscene expressions, except when it is part of a quote and the news itself is related to the use of these words.
Third parties and their relationship with the Editorial
The authors of the Site materials may be journalists, authors, bloggers and other persons who are competent in the topic of a particular aspect of weather or climate. Materials by unknown authors may not be published. Exception: the material was prepared at the request of the Editors.
The Editors publish only those materials whose topics and participants have been agreed upon. In the event of changes to the agreed points or inconsistency with the User Agreement, the Editors reserve the right to refuse to publish such material.
The Editors reserve the right to make edits and cuts to the texts only in extreme cases. The Editors respect the author's style and maintain the accuracy of quotations. All changes will be pre-agreed with the author.
The right to choose article titles belongs to the Editors. We take into account the author's suggestions, but reserve the right to change the title to match the style and format of the publication.
Primary Sources/Newsmakers
The editors do everything possible to obtain interesting and important information, in accordance with current legislation, moral standards and journalistic ethics.
Sensational information requires confirmation from several independent sources. Exception: Official statements.
The editors do not allow the publication of material for the purpose of denigrating a reputation. First of all, the Editorial aims to show Users the general picture of what is happening, as well as different points of view on the same facts or events.
In working with primary sources/newsmakers, the Editorial uses the following principles:
- collecting material directly from the primary source;
- checking facts;
- confirming the authenticity of documents and other data;
- personal presence at events, or video / audio confirmation of statements and assertions of participants in the events.
Partnership
In case of violations or non-compliance of the partner with the User Agreement and/or Privacy Policy on the part of the partner, any partnership is excluded. Partnership is possible only if such partnership coincides with the interests of the Users.
The editorial staff of the Site is ready to become a partner (including the main one) of an initiative or project if it believes that this contributes to the creation of a responsible and critically thinking environment for Users and the development of the general level of awareness of Users.
Advertising
Journalists and authors of the Site are prohibited from advertising goods/services in their materials without the consent of the Editorial. Advertising is considered material that the average User considers advertising, even if such material is not marked as advertising.
The editorial staff is open to feedback, wishes and comments in editorial meetings from all journalists.
